By popular demand, we have decided to release part two after all. We realise that it seemed a little unprofessional to skip it. This time we are entering our home forest of Østmarka.
Beautiful Oslo is situated at the top of the Oslofjord. Oslo is surrounded by lush forests on all sides, aptly named Vestmarka, Nordmarka and Østmarka. What sets Østmarka apart from the rest of the forests, apart from being on the correct side of the city, is its foundation, bedrock created over a billion years ago and the very visible creases stretch in a north-south direction.The vegetation is open and mostly pine.
Østmarka flaunts a nearly limitless amount of paths, many of them even lit up, so that you can enjoy the forest day and night, Summer or Winter. And if you're really the adventurous type, you could join Ola Dilt for some orienteering around the hilly forest.
